Elecbrakes EB2 – Quick Start Instructions
(For all Margaret River Trailer Hire tippers)
1. Before You Tow
- Ensure your vehicle’s headlights are ON (not on Auto).
- Check all trailer lights are working before leaving.
- Make sure the trailer plug is fully connected to your vehicle.
2. Connecting to the Elecbrakes App
- Download the Elecbrakes app from the App Store / Google Play.
- Turn on your vehicle’s headlights (mandatory for EB2 power).
- Open the app and tap Connect.
- Select the device name shown on your screen (MRTH 10x6, MRTH 10x5, MRTH 8x5. Hold your phone near the EB2 brake Controller on the drawbar
- Wait a few seconds for it to pair.
3. Selecting the Brake Preset
Choose the preset that best matches your load:
- Empty / Light Load — minimal braking pressure
- ¼ Load
- ½ Load
- ¾ Load
- Full Load — strongest braking pressure for heavy loads
Adjust if needed while driving at low speed. Braking should feel smooth and balanced.
4. While Driving
- Trailer brakes should feel even and not grabby.
- If braking feels too strong or weak, adjust the preset in the app.
- Always drive to conditions — heavy loads take longer to stop.
5. Troubleshooting
If the app won’t connect:
- Unplug the trailer plug → wait 5 seconds → reconnect
- Ensure your vehicle headlights are ON
- Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your phone
- Try restarting the Elecbrakes app
If brakes feel weak:
- Check the preset matches your load
- Confirm trailer plug is firmly connected
If brakes feel too strong:
- Drop down one preset level
6. Safety Requirements
- Never tow without functioning electric brakes.
- Never tow if trailer lights are not working.
- Always secure your load with straps or netting.
- Stop and re-check your connections after the first 5–10 minutes of driving.
